When it comes to versatile sleeping solutions, the MAXYOYO 6" Extra Thick Japanese Floor Mattress Futon stands out as a flexible and attractive option. Designed to be a multi-functional heavy-duty floor mattress, it uses upgraded high-density base support foam to combine both comfort and support. The futon, available in a sleek dark grey color, promises an improved sleeping experience with its impressive 6-inch thickness.

This mattress is perfect for various applications - from a bedroom futon, living room futon, tatami mat, to a guest bed or a floor pillow bed for children. Furthermore, for portability, it comes with a dustproof cover and storage straps, all enhancing its utility as an ideal accompaniment for trips or compact storage at home.

Pros and Cons: The Good, the Bad, and the Comfortable

Now let's break down user experiences into clear pros and cons based on the quality, usability, features, and durability of this mattress.

Quality and Comfort

One of the most praised features among users is the exceptional quality and comfort. The 6-inch thickness provides lush support while the high-density base support foam element ensures that the mattress does not sag and retains its form even after extended use. A review highlighted, "I’m a 150lbs, 5’10” man and found it perfectly sized," illustrating its spacious design for individuals.

Another user noted the comfort despite a history of chronic back pain, stating that, "Initially I was concerned... but I've had no problems after sleeping on this," and described it as "even more comfortable than my pull out couch bed." Such feedback suggests the futon is a viable option for those needing ergonomic support or with specific back comfort requirements.

Cons:

A review did mention some discomfort during an adjustment period. One user described the first week as "atrocious," which implies a steeper breaking-in period for some individuals.

Usability and Convenience

The usability aspect of MAXYOYO floor mattress is mainly centered around its practical accessories. The product comes with a dustproof cover of the same color and storage straps that efficiently assist in maintaining its longevity and ease of transport. A satisfied user praised this perk, saying, "It was very easy to roll up, and even comes with straps to help roll it up."

This detailed consideration to usability makes the futon practical for transient use, whether traveling or moving within the house. However, whilst many found it reasonably uncomplicated, others mentioned potential difficulties, particularly when dealing with the futon alone, such as, "The biggest downside is how difficult it is to roll it back up."

Cons:

Particular emphasis was placed on the weight and bulkiness of the mattress, with one user noting, "But be warned that this thing is HEAVY! It was very awkward trying to roll it up and hard to move around and store."

Features and Durability

The features enhance its utility notably. The removable cover is an appreciated addition. Although one user detailed difficulty with the fitted sheet's zipper, they also mentioned that "the sheet material is actually very good... It hasn’t done any peeling with little fuzzys like low quality can."

On durability, the finesses of this product are evident after several months of use by various reviewers. The sustainability of its thickness appears commendable to the many who haven't witnessed any material deterioration, a crucial component for those relying on it for long-term use beyond just guest accommodations.

Cons:

A few inadequacies include the initial time taken for the mattress to reach its full inflation size: "Inflated fully after 3 days in January without a sunny window." However, once fully expanded, the majority reported it remained in a stable, effective condition.

Conclusion: Evaluating the MAXYOYO 6" Futon Mattress

In sum, the MAXYOYO 6" Extra Thick Japanese Floor Mattress is a robust and well-fitted mattress solution that delivers on multiple counts. Ranging from comfort to versatile functionality, it has proven to satisfy a range of users with differing needs, from a guest mattress to a mainstay for daily sleeping arrangements. Its storage accessories add meaningful utility, transforming its structural heft from a negative into a manageable factor.

The inherent trade-off, however, lies in its weight and post-use portability, albeit countered by feasible workarounds such as the vacuum mattress bag. While some may require an adjustment period to relish the comfort fully, its durable structure and excellent support make for an investment many find rewarding.

Based on customer feedback, this futon is undoubtedly a value-packed purchase, echoing the sentiment, "This is a million times better than an air mattress," making it a favorite for many. If you are on the lookout for a purchase emphasizing comfort and versatile usability at an affordable price, the MAXYOYO floor mattress should certainly be considered a top contender.

10/10 on all fronts for my purposes

Bought this to use as a guest mattress intending to store it in a spare closet. 10/10 on all fronts for my purposes. I’m a 150lbs, 5’10” man and found it perfectly sized. I ditched the microfiber cover that came with it because I read that it was prone to tears and I can’t stand the feel of microfiber anyways. Instead I ordered a cheap mattress protector (like the kind that protects from spills) and used that to cover it before throwing on a bedsheet. Works like a charm. The mattress took about a full 24 hours to completely fluff out, but once it did it’s been very comfortable. I’ve had it for a few months and periodically I’ve had to use it as my bed for weeks at a time and it’s been very comfortable and shown no serious signs of wear. Initially I was concerned because I have chronic back pain and even purchased a hybrid memory foam mattress for my “proper” bed years ago since bed comfort was very important to me. However I’ve had no problems after sleeping on this, finding it perfectly thick and easy on the spine. I’ve had guests sleep on it for a whole week and also said it was very comfortable for them. Even more comfortable than my pull out couch bed. The biggest downside is how difficult it is to roll it back up. My spouse, who is much weaker than myself, is unable to roll it up alone. But I find it fairly simple, if tedious, to compress, roll up, and clip and tighten the fasteners by myself, and I would consider myself to be of average size and strength. Regardless it does roll up tight enough to fit into a pretty small closet and still leave room for other things, just takes a bit of work. I think that extra effort should be expected for a mattress of this thickness, though, so it does not negatively impact my review. This is a million times better than an air mattress and I would absolutely recommend.

 It’s thick, it’s comfortable

Guest comes over, they need somewhere to sleep, they’ll appreciate this over an air mattress. It’s thick, it’s comfortable. Got the queen size fits two adults comfortably. Yes, because it’s thick it will be a bit of work to roll up. You can get a vacuum mattress bag to really help with that. Overall it’s great and gets the job done. No complaints.

 It's very comfortable

This was so worth the price I can't get over it. It's very comfortable. It was very easy to assemble. It was very easy to roll up, and even comes with straps to help roll it up. The only downside I would say was the fitted sheet that zips. zipper wasn't properly attached and it does not close but I made it work. My mom help me fix it a little bit but we still have to play with it I don't think we'll really be able to take it on and off consistently. But either way was part of the free deal so I have no complaints. I'm very grateful for this The sheet material is actually very good material It hasn't done any peeling with little fuzzys like low quality can. We currently have it laid out on a futon. Thickness is good I have lower back issues and it doesn't set it off at all so that made me very happy.

Had to wrestle with it a bit to get it in the cover

Inflated fully after 3 days in January without a sunny window. Had to wrestle with it a bit to get it in the cover. Not sure how to attach the straps but over all it is what they say it is and it is comfortable as well as aesthetically pleasing.

I like that it comes with a cover and straps to make it easy to roll up and store—nice mattress for the price!

Although it will take a few days to reach its full height, it is very comfortable after only 6 hours. I like that it comes with a cover and straps to make it easy to roll up and store—nice mattress for the price!

My boyfriend says we were self-imposing our own fragility by sleeping on a "super comfy" Purple, which, it was

We went from sleeping on a Purple mattress to sleeping on this futon and I cannot understand exactly why but I feel better every single day than I used to. My boyfriend says we were self-imposing our own fragility by sleeping on a "super comfy" Purple, which, it was. But in the morning I couldn't move at all and I would have severe back pain multiple days a week. I haven't had any back pain since about a week after sleeping on this futon. I will say, the first week was atrocious. I had a hard time getting comfortable and I felt like I couldn't sleep in the same positions I was used to, but then after about a week of uncomfortable sleep, pure bliss. Two months in now and I fall asleep quickly and in the morning I bounce out of bed full of energy. No pain whatsoever. It's like I had to adjust and now I feel like a normal person again. I really can't believe it. Boyfriend says the same thing, we're shocked and I doubt we'll go back to any soft "normal" bed again.

Something I could roll up and put away during the day, but be warned that this thing is HEAVY! It was very awkward trying to roll it up and hard to move around and store

I thought this would be a good option for my Murphy sofa bed. Something I could roll up and put away during the day, but be warned that this thing is HEAVY! It was very awkward trying to roll it up and hard to move around and store. I ended up going with a fold up memory foam mattress because it is lighter and softer. This floor mattress is very firm and if you have hip issues like I do it is not the best choice. I think this would be a great option for a futon frame as a permanent fixture but if you need the versatility of something that is easy to move and store this is not it.
